In particular, the light duty range is suitable where relatively low number of door openings are required in a relatively low ambient temperature, resulting in reduced load on the refrigeration unit. The light duty range includes chest freezers and upright freezers. Chest freezers are built with long term durability and energy efficiency in mind. They are intended for relatively long term freezer storage for occasional access by staff. For more frequent access or for retail access, an upright option, perhaps with a glass door, is likely to be more suitable. Chest freezers come in a choice of 5 widths from 1050mm to 1800mm, with a standard depth of 730mm. They have solid tops in a choice of standard insulation or stainless steel. Our chest freezers are fitted with 2 or 3 internal baskets, depending on size, which help to keep stock organised as well as encouraging air circulation. Operational temperature is between -18 and -24C and the internal temperature is conveniently displayed on a digital display on the outside of the freezer. They are also provided with a lock in handle and an internal light. Where more frequent access is required, an upright freezer from our light duty range will be a more suitable option than a chest freezer. Upright freezers have a slightly warmer operating range between -18 and -20C, making them suitable for shorter term freezing requirements. Upright freezers can be supplied with either solid or glass doors. A solid door retains heat more efficiently than a glass door, and will give superior energy efficiency over time compared to a glass door. Ambient temperature is also a factor in making the choice between solid or glass doors – glass door freezers can deal with an ambient temperature of up to 32C, while a solid door can cope up to 43C. The main reason for choosing a glass door will relate to the intended usage of the product. Glass doors provide a display element which may be useful in a retail environment, or in a working environment with multiple cabinets, allowing personnel to more easily find required produce. Upright freezers in the light duty range have a small footprint of 595mm by 595mm, making them a convenient choice for small work areas and shops with limited space. For larger cabinets, lower operating temperatures or more heavy duty usage, look instead at our Future or Future Plus freezer cabinets (see below). Under counter freezer cabinets are designed to be conveniently fitted under a work or sales counter, making them ideal for a small business working out of a small area, or for a small shop or retail environment. Our under counter freezer cabinets have a wide operational range of -15 to -25C, and the current temperature is visible in an external digital display. There is a choice of white or stainless steel exterior, and they can be supplied with solid or glass doors, allowing these units to be used for display purposes if required. The freezer cabinets are provided with a set of useful additional features as standard including a door lock, 3 adjustable shelves, self closing hinges and magnetic seal to ensure doors are tightly closed, and a door frame heater to prevent doors freezing shut. They can also be stacked on each other using a mounting kit. Porkka arctic counter range includes several freezer options to provide both freezer storage and valuable worktop space. Mounted on castors, they can be easily located wherever they may be required within a work or retail area. Arctic counter freezer units provide a worktop height of 900mm and are available in a choice of 2 widths (860mm or 1260mm) and a single standard depth (650mm). Each cabinet within the unit is supplied with 2 internal shelves. Operating temperature is between -18 and -20C. Normal commercial freezers are designed to maintain the temperature of stock which is put into the freezer already at or close to the required temperature, and to hold it at that temperature for an indefinite period. By contrast, blast freezers are designed to bring non-frozen products down to frozen temperatures within a short period of time, at which point the product is typically removed and placed into conventional freezer storage. Blast freezers are used in operations where food is cooked or prepared at room temperature but then needs to be quickly frozen prior to being transported or moved to long term storage. The main purpose of blast freezing is to minimise the period of time spent at mid-range temperatures where bacteria production is at its highest. This is necessary for food safety but also helps to extend the shelf life of the product. A secondary benefit to the business is that stock spends less time sitting around in work areas while it cools, allowing for faster throughput. Porkka blast chillers include a microprocessor control unit which records usage and provides monitoring evidence necessary for HACCP regulations. Blast freezers are not rated according to the usual temperature range given for other freezers. Instead they operate in terms of freezing capacity, defined as the volume of product that can be frozen within a given time. Porkka blast freezers are available to provide the following blast freezing capacities: 25kg/2.4h, 35kg/2.5h, 50kg/2.5h, 55kg / 2.5h and 2 x 55kg / 2.5h Some Porkka blast freezers may also be used as blast chillers. And in between blast jobs, they may be used for general storage – making them an extremely versatile piece of equipment. Porkka’s Future Cabinet freezers are a new addition to our range of heavy duty commercial freezers. They have been developed over a period of two years and have superior hygiene, energy efficiency and ease of use features. All freezers in the Future range are uprights with solid doors, in a choice of 4 widths: 600mm, 730mm, 850mm (all single doors) and 1460mm (double doors). Operating temperature is -18 to -26C, the lowest operating range of all our freezers. Standard Future cabinet freezers are single door with, but separate cabinet options are available in the Future Combi range. This allows a choice of either chiller/freezer combination, or freezer/freezer combination (e.g if food separation is needed). Additional features include temperature display with alarm, internal coving for hygiene and ease of cleaning, auto defrost, castors as standard, anti-tilt shelving and lock and keys. Future Plus freezer cabinets have all the features of the Future range, but in addition offer enhanced energy efficiency. An innovative cold air filter in the cabinet base draws clean, cooler air onto the refrigeration unit. This cooler air requires less cooling resulting in a reduction in power consumption. |
